Job Description NOC Job Title: 9431 – Sawmill Machine Operators

Contract duration: 2 years renewable

Activity area

The transformation of wood from the raw state through different machines and processes to obtain a semi-finished product in the form of boards of different sizes.

Job specification

Sawmill machine operators operate, monitor and control automated sawmill equipment used to cut (cut) logs into raw pieces of lumber and to saw, split, trim and plane this first cut into boards of different sizes.

As such, the operator will have the following tasks:

• Perform general manual work;
• Use machines to sort and stack wood according to length and thickness;
• Ensure the conformity of the raw material;
• Handle finished products and supply the production line;
• Operate and control the automatic sawmill equipment from the command-control panels;
• Start sawing machine feed and take-up conveyors;
• Monitor the movement of logs and lumber to ensure they are cut to standard;
• Complete production reports;
• Adjust Clean and lubricate sawmill equipment and replace saw blades or bands;
• Apply the lockout methods in force;
• Classify, place, store various materials, tools or equipment;
• Maintain clean work environment, tools and equipment;

Job requirements

• You have 2 years or more of experience in wood manufacturing and processing or in large-scale industry;
• You have knowledge of the principles of sawing;
• You with BTP, BTS completed in the wood sawing sector (an asset) or equivalent;
• We also accept the BAC with relevant experience in industry;
• You master the French language both orally and in writing;
• You have manual and physical skills;
• You are good at communicating and you like teamwork;
• You are able to pass judgment on the quality of the material and the working methods;
• You are punctual and organized;
• Knowledge of the host environment an asset (Quebec and Canada)
